The public defenders representing 14-year-old Zaveon Marks are asking the state for $25,000 to provide special mitigation expertise during the sentencing phase of his trial.

A jury found 14-year-old Zaveon Marks guilty of one count of first degree murder and one count of unlawful possession of a weapon in the shooting death of 16-year-old Zarious Fair last summer. 

Testimony began Tuesday in the murder trial of 14-year-old Zaveon Marks.
