A Peoria man has been booked for attempted murder after a man was found shot in his vehicle in a Limestone Township liquor store parking lot.

Peoria County Sheriff Brian Asbell said deputies found a 26-year-old man with several gunshot wounds in a vehicle in the Laramie Liquors parking lot just before 10:45 p.m. Sunday.

The man was taken to OSF St. Francis Medical Center with serious injuries.

A Galesburg man faces murder charges after an arson fire killed one person and left another seriously injured.

On Sunday, the Galesburg Fire and Police Departments responded to a house fire at 261 Pine St. A 50-year-old man was found outside the house. He was transported to the hospital with burn injuries, and later transferred to a burn unit.

Katrina Hainline, 60, was found dead inside the house after the fire was brought under control.

Police said the fire was intentionally set. Donald Denniston, 38, faces a first-degree murder charge and aggravated arson charges.

A Chillicothe man has been found dead at Hamm's Holiday Harbor near the Illinois River.

Kent Hamm, 57, was last seen Jan. 20 at the Shell gas station on North Knox in Chillicothe.

Peoria County Sheriff's deputies found Hamm dead on his property in the 17000 block of North Holiday Harbor Drive Wednesday afternoon.

It's unclear how Hamm died. The Peoria County Coroner's Office is conducting an autopsy.

The Peoria Police Department has arrested a suspect in connection with the murder of Jeffrey Blevins.

Michael Dyer, 58, was arrested on charges of first-degree murder on Tuesday in Decatur, where he was being held in the Macon County Jail on unrelated charges.

Blevins was found dead in a vehicle in the 8300 block of North Knoxville last Friday. Peoria County Coroner Jamie Harwood said he was shot once in his upper body, likely dying instantly.

Dyer was transferred to the Peoria County Jail.
