Big Picture Peoria

Big Picture

This week on Out and About, Doug and Eileen Leunig (founders of Big Picture) and Trent Miles, join host Jenn Gordon to talk about “Giving Voice” an online magazine featuring articles, videos, and podcasts submitted by youth in our community.  The students will work with a professional writer and mentor to hone their writing skills, and they will be paid for published articles. To find out more about this initiative visit Giving Voice.

This week, Nathan Irwin is talking with Doug and Eileen Leuning about Big Picture Peoria. Big Picture is an attempt to create more opportunities for artists in central Illinois. A Street Art Festival on Saturday will include multiple murals, live music, chalk art and a "paint fling." Later in the day, the Peoria Riverfront Museum is hosting the Big Picture Film Festival features short films by local filmmakers. Big Picture also spearheaded "Abraham Blue," an oversized mural depicting Abraham Lincoln. It's color is intended to call attention to Lincoln's struggles with depression.
