When Someone's Grieving, Don't Turn Away. Lean In, Says St. Jude Expert

Feb 11, 2020

Losing a child is every parent's worst nightmare. For Justin Baker, helping families through grief is a full-time job.

Baker is the chief of Quality of Life and Palliative Care at St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in Memphis. Tim Shelley spoke with Baker last week at the Jump Trading Simulation and Education Center about how he guides parents and siblings after a child dies at St. Jude, and how others can use those experiences to help someone who loses a loved one.

St. Jude has also introduced a program to allow St. Jude parents who lave lost children to volunteer as guides for others suffering more recent loss.
