A second person has died of cold exposure in the Tri-county area. A 72- year-old Germantown Hills woman was found unresponsive early this morning in her garage.
Peoria County Coroner Jamie Harwood says she went into her attached garage about 7:00 last night for an unknown reason and never returned. Her husband who was in bed did not recognize that she was gone until he woke up. Harwood says her husband called 911. The husband along with a Woodford County Sheriff’s Deputy found her on the garage floor about 3:30.
Harwood says she was transported to OSF Medical Center pulseless. After attempts to warm and revive her, she was pronounced dead at 5:45 a.m. Her death is directly attributed to cold weather exposure.
