A 42-year-old man is dead after he was shot in the neck Thursday evening in Peoria's East Bluff.
Peoria Police Public Information Officer Amy Dotson said police responded to Wisconsin and Nebraska just after 6:45 p.m. on a report of a shooting.
Police found the gunshot victim, and he was transported to the hospital with life-threatening injuries. He was later pronounced dead at the hospital.
Peoria County Coroner Jamie Harwood said Eddie Wren of Peoria was pronounced dead around 7:15 p.m. He said Wren likely died instantly from the neck wound.
The incident is under investigation. No arrests have been made.
This is Peoria's 19th homicide of 2019, and the second reported in the city this week.
