It appears Tazewell County has a new auditor.
Tazewell County voters chose former board member Brett Grimm over incumbent Shelly Hranka by large margins. Grimm led Hranka 62 percent to 37 percent with 108 of 109 precincts reporting at 11:30 p.m. Tuesday.
The incumbent has butted heads with the county board since taking office over staffing and salary cuts. Voters rejected a board-backed referendum to make her elected position an appointed one in 2018.
Hranka currently has lawsuits filed against the county and board chairman Dave Zimmerman. She said at a recent candidates' forum she didn't plan on dropping those suits even if she lost her GOP primary challenge.
