Bruce Rauner will take the oath of office as governor Monday during a ceremony that begins at 11 a.m. Rauner will be the first Republican governor in a dozen years and the state's 42nd governor.

The new governor's swearing in will be followed by those of Republican Lt. Gov. Evelyn Sanguinetti, Democratic Attorney General Lisa Madigan and Secretary of State Jesse White, appointed Republican Comptroller Leslie Munger and Michael Frerichs, the Democratic treasurer.

The event will feature a moment of silence for Judy Baar Topinka, who was elected to a second term as comptroller but died in December.

Rauner will have an Old State Capitol open house and the night will be capped by a concert by country star Toby Keith.
