Missouri Congressman calls for quicker investigation into police shooting

Aug 22, 2014

Missouri Congressman Lacy Clay says the investigation into the police shooting of Michael Brown needs to happen faster.

Clay's comments come after St. Louis County prosecutor Bob McCulloch says it could take through October to finish presenting evidence to the grand jury.  But Clay says it will only be once a grand jury decision comes down that -quote - "we can determine if justice has been served."

"The demonstrators, the people who have reached a breaking point, those that are frustrated like myself, need to see affirmatively the legal system take its course, there needs to be an arrest, there needs to be charges, or an indictment and we don't need it in October."

Clay also met with Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel on Thursday over concerns about programs that give surplus military equipment to local police.
