The Rev. Jesse Jackson and an activist priest say they'll stage a protest that will shut down part of a busy interstate in Chicago despite warnings of arrest from police.

Officials overseeing construction of the Obama Presidential Center on Chicago's South Side say they're taking steps to ensure a diverse workforce builds the center.

An autopsy has determined that a man fatally shot on Chicago's South Side by police was shot in the back.

The Peoria City Council will consider whether to approve a parking request to build a Dollar General store on the South Side.  The City Zoning Commission voted to deny the request to build on 205 South Western Avenue.  Commissioner Mark Misselhorn says he wanted to see more documentation on the project:

Pullman clock tower to become national monument

The historic Pullman clock tower is going to be a national monument. President Barack Obama will be in Chicago next week to make the designation official.

The group working to revitalize Peoria’s struggling neighborhoods hopes to open a Financial Opportunity Center in 2014.  Peoria’s Local Initiatives Support Corporation, or LISC, plans to work with community groups and non-profits to combine financial services into one place.  Brandon Holmes is the Executive Director of the Peoria LISC.
