The new year will be one of big decisions in Illinois.

The city of Chicago has officially submitted its bid to be home to Amazon's second headquarters.

Some of Chicago's top business executives are leading the effort to bring online retailer Amazon's second headquarters to the area. 

Caterpillar says financial uncertainty could impact a study of whether to update its aging world headquarters building. The company has spent two years studying its headquarters layout and technological needs of other downtown facilities. In a statement, the company says it remains committed to the study and is looking at new office space needs in the region. The study also remains focused on downtown Peoria. But Cat says current global and economic risks could negatively affect business.

The latest with OfficeMax and staying in Illinois

Soon after OfficeMax and Office Depot announced their intention to merge earlier this year, one of the biggest questions was where the company would be based. OfficeMax has about 2,000 employees at its headquarters in Naperville, in the Chicago suburbs. Office Depot is based in Florida.  IPR’s Brian Mackey has an update on where things stand.

ADM looks to move world HQ from Decatur

After 44 years as the world headquarters for Archer Daniels Midland, the central Illinois town of Decatur is about to lose that title.  IPR’s Sean Crawford reports: 


Caterpillar now owns the entire city block next to its world headquarters in downtown Peoria. Cat spokesman Rusty Dunn says the company completed the move with its purchase of the Peoria professional Building on Main Street.
