The Peoria Police Department is issuing a ‘buyer beware notice’ to crack cocaine users. A new form of fentanyl laced in rocks of crack is responsible for the deaths of two people Tuesday, contributed to the death for a third, and has one man in critical condition.

Three people are in jail after Will County authorities pulled over a car and found the trunk held several bricks of cocaine with a street value of more than $1 million.  The Will County Sheriff's Department says the discovery happened Monday night after deputies pulled over a car they'd spotted swerving on a road in Green Garden Township. 

A former suburban Chicago police detective has admitted to stealing drugs from his department's evidence room.  Gregory Salvi faces at least 10 years in prison when he returns to court in July for sentencing. He pleaded guilty to possession of more than 500 grams of cocaine with intent to distribute.

Rockford police seized $8.6 million in cocaine, methamphetamine, and fentanyl in a raid last month in southeast Rockford, officials announced Thursday.

Officers found the drugs after raiding 629 16th Avenue on Nov. 22, where they arrested 58-year-old Luis Ruiz, according to the Rockford Register Star. He's been charged with delivery of a controlled substance and three counts of possession with intent to deliver.   

One of six defendants facing charges in the dismemberment of a Champaign woman has pleaded guilty to dismembering her body.  Champaign County State's Attorney Julia Rietz says 27-year-old Davion Hedrick of Champaign faces up to 30 years in prison after entering his plea. He is scheduled to be sentenced Feb. 14.
