Autopsies are pending on the two Peoria men killed in an overnight shooting. 22-year-old Braden M. Huerta and 23-year-old Alijah W. Sumrell were found in the 200 block of East Virginia.

Peoria County Coroner Jamie Harwood says Sumrell lived on Rockwell Drive, and Huerta lived on Fairlane Drive.

A Shot-Spotter alert initially led Peoria police to the 200 block of East Virginia just before 12:45 a.m.

Huerta suffered life-threatening wounds inside a vehicle and was pronounced dead at the scene. Sumrell was found on the ground next to a vehicle. He died a short time later at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center.

The coroner’s office says neither man was carrying identification. Family members were notified in person after authorities identified the men by body tattoos and fingerprints. The shooting remains under investigation.
