Lincoln Train Depot Renovation Recognized

Lincoln’s historic rail depot renovation is garnering statewide recognition. The Illinois chapter of the American Public Works Association says the revitalization is its “Project of the Year.” The $4 million project included the complete renovation of the depot building, a new boarding platform and upgraded passenger amenities.

It also features restored windows, doors and a ticket counter from the original 1911 structure. The Lincoln depot had closed to passenger use in 1972, but is now a stop along Amtrak’s Chicago-to-St. Louis route.
